Joined the South African Railways on 7 March 1911 as Cleaner. 1st July 1913 permanently employed as a Fireman. 23rd February promoted to Passed Fireman with the wages of 9 pounds 6 shillings per day when firing and 10/6 per day when driving. 23rd February 1923 promoted to Driver First Grade with the wages of 19/1 per day. 13th July 1928 certified as competent to take charge of Electric Trains on the Section between Sea Point and Simonstown. Retired 8 December 1948. Living at Mission Rd, Wynberg during 1925
