Cause of his death was Black Water Fever. General Notes: According to the Data of the South African Genealogical Society on Gravestones Tpr W. E. Farr died during the Great War of 1914 and 1918 as a member of the 1st South African Horse. Al indications are that he had died before this period. His name is engraved on the War Memorial, Boksburg, Gauteng, South Africa. This memorial is to honour the employees of East Rand Proprietary Mines, Boksburg who lost their lives during World War 1. This is a fair indication he had worked for this company before leaving for Dar-es-Salaam. Noted events in his life were: • Court, 1916. DEPOT TAB • Military Service: Gravestone, 1914. DEPOT Genealogical Society of SA Walter married Annie Mary Saunders, daughter of Saunders and Unknown, about 1889. (Annie Mary Saunders was born in 1869, died on 1957 Mar 16 and was buried in Maitland, Western Cape, South Africa.) |
